The project is conceived with the aim to reduce and roll back pollution that is affecting residents in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region.

The key mission of the programme is to help SME manufacturers build capacity to address up-coming environmental challenges from local authority and global supply chain and transfer practical knowledge to SMEs and the next generation of industrialists.

Objectives

  • To build capacity to address up-coming environmental challenges from local authority and global supply chain
  • To establish an One-Stop Knowledge Database (OKD)
  • To establish a SME Business Facilitation and Incubation Centre (SBFIC)
  • To transfer practical knowledge to SMEs and next generation of industrialists
  • To Initiate a long-term environmental culture in Hong Kong's industrial community

The major tasks to help SME manufacturers to achieve their environmental initiatives including:

  1. One-Stop Knowledge Database (OKD) - It includes sector-specific best practice guides, digests of environmental-related legislation and other requirements, self-learning packs, benchmarking tools, and frequently asked questions (FAQs). (Available in English and Chinese.)
  2. SME Business Facilitation and Incubation Centre (SBFIC) - the centre will be led by environmental and business professionals, which mainly comprises two key services:
    1. The Technical Helpline - No.: 2784 0100 It covers telephone, email, and facsimile enquiry services through which technical information and advice will be disseminated to SME manufacturers.
    2. "Meet-the-Advisor" (For more information, please call Technical Helpline) The service will be arranged to allow in-depth face-to-face discussion on complex environmental problems between enquirers and the advisor pool.
  3. Apprentice Scheme - Through the apprentice scheme, the knowledge from the pool of technical advisors will be passed on to local university postgraduates through technical mentoring.
  4. Seminars and Workshops - Seminars and Workshops will be held regularly for SMEs to provide latest information on environmental issues and know-how to them.

This site was developed as part of a larger industrial support project funded by the SME Development Fund of the Trade and Industry Department, HKSAR Government.
